An Exceptional Example of Fraud!!
One of the best examples of obvious fraud/Scam & outright "stealing" in this industry is outlined and available to be seen online. It involves an Auction sale of a U.S.1902 Indian Head Cent certified MS68 Red in 2022. This coin is dramatically "sneeze" spotted under "cent". Obverse has various discolored cleaning marks on Rim areas. Any professional with numismatic knowledge knows this grade (MS68 Red) is impossible for this coin. All 3rd Party graders will tell you a spotted coin cannot receive a " Red" designation. The dealer(s), Grading Co. & Auction House are all complicit in this Hi-End scam for profit which ended with a Sale at over $144,000.00! This coin is worth $100. on its best day! How? Why? They knew they could get away with it! The industry allows them to. These scams are evident everywhere in this elitest controlled industry. PNG, ANA, 3rd Party Graders, various auction houses, numismatic publications all allow this to happen. Coin collecting is a wonderful hobby, I've been at it over 50 years, but you must educate yourself before you spend your money.
